Chartered in 2023 as the 17th Temple of the Desert of Georgia, Shuja Temple No. 281 serves the Oasis of College Park and Metro Atlanta through brotherhood, charitable initiatives, and civic engagement.

Our History

How Shuja Came to Be

Shuja Temple began as the Greater Metro Atlanta Shrine Club through the vision of Noble La’Micheal V. Eddie, with permission from the 45th Imperial Potentate, the Honorable Eric R. Myers. From an idea among friends and fellow Master Masons, Shuja grew into the 17th Temple of the Desert of Georgia in less than five months.

January 22, 2023
Organized. The Greater Metro Atlanta Shrine Club is formed under Noble La’Micheal V. Eddie. The name “Shuja” is proposed and adopted by the founding members.
February 17, 2023
Dispensation Granted. Shuja is placed under the dispensation of the Imperial Potentate and holds its first fundraiser.
March 2023
Twenty-Five Strong. The required number of qualified persons is reached. Fundraising efforts accelerate, raising thousands of dollars within two months.
May 16, 2023
Members Created, Officers Installed. The founding members are created and the charter Divan is officially installed.
June 3, 2023
Warrant Issued. Shuja Temple No. 281 receives its warrant of constitution and holds its first official temple meeting that evening.
The Meaning of Our Name

What Is Shuja?

SHUJA

Shuja is a name of Arabic origin that means “courageous” or “brave.” Often given as a name for boys, it carries a positive connotation associated with the qualities that define our temple.

Noble Lando Goins

Noble Lando Goins is serving his second consecutive term as Illustrious Potentate of Shuja Temple No. 281, having first been elected in 2025. Under his leadership, the temple continues to carry forward its mission of brotherhood, charitable service, and civic engagement throughout the Oasis of College Park and Metro Atlanta.

Noble La’Micheal V. Eddie

Noble La’Micheal V. Eddie is the founder of Shuja Temple No. 281 and served as its first Illustrious Potentate for two consecutive terms (2023 and 2024). Created on February 12, 1997, in Safia Temple No. 188, Noble Eddie brought together unaffiliated Nobles and fellow Master Masons in early 2023 to form what would become the 17th Temple of the Desert of Georgia.

A graduate of Florida A&M University with a BS in Public Administration and Social Work, Noble Eddie holds a Master’s in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness from Troy University and is a Ph.D. learner at Capella University. He is a Certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practitioner and serves as a corporate training and development executive.

His fraternal service includes Charter Worshipful Master of Excelsior Lodge No. 754, Past Commander in Chief of the Consistory, Past Chancellor Commander of Shady Grove Lodge No. 18 Knights of Pythias, and Past Polemarch of the Dothan Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
