Eligibility

Membership Requirements

The Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine has a single, unalterable requirement that has stood since 1893.

To Petition Shuja Temple, you must be:

  • A Master Mason in good standing
  • A member of a Prince Hall affiliated lodge recognized by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge
  • Of good moral character
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Willing to uphold the principles, traditions, and obligations of Shrinedom

The central rule: All Shriners are Masons, but not all Masons are Shriners.

If you have not yet been raised to the degree of Master Mason, we encourage you to pursue that journey first. Once you are a Master Mason in good standing, Shuja Temple welcomes your inquiry.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to live in College Park to join Shuja? +

No. While Shuja Temple serves the Oasis of College Park, our membership includes Nobles from across Metro Atlanta and beyond. What matters most is your commitment to our mission and your ability to participate in the life of the temple.

How long does the membership process take? +

The timeline varies based on temple meeting schedules, investigation pacing, and ceremony scheduling. Generally, expect the process to take several weeks to a few months from initial inquiry to Creation. We will keep you informed at each step.

What are the dues and fees? +

Dues, fees, and other financial obligations will be reviewed in detail during your meeting with the Membership Chair and prior to your application. We are transparent about all costs so you can make a fully informed decision.

What is the time commitment? +

Shuja Temple meets on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the College Park Police Department. Beyond regular meetings, Nobles participate in service projects, fundraisers, social events, and Desert/Imperial gatherings throughout the year. Active participation is what makes Shuja strong, and we work to make involvement meaningful and manageable for every Noble.

Can my wife or family members get involved? +

Yes. The Imperial Court is the Auxiliary of A.E.A.O.N.M.S. and is composed of wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters of Nobles. They mirror the activities of the parent body and have their own rich tradition. Once you are created, your eligible family members may pursue membership in the local court.

I’m a Master Mason but not in a Prince Hall lodge. Can I still join? +

A.E.A.O.N.M.S. is the Prince Hall Shrine. Membership requires affiliation with a Prince Hall lodge recognized by the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge. If you have questions about your specific situation, please reach out and we can discuss your eligibility.
